Sounds of Silence

A European Harmonising Play

"We know what we are, but know not what we may be." - William Shakespeare

What can silence tell us about ourselves? Has the sound frequency of music anything to do with the reality we face? What does it take to become fully harmonized with the citizens of our continents? The new harmonic pianotuning presented by Sounds of Silence, is based on the recently created 12-based 'Krystal' tuning. Experience the amazing sounds brought to you by professional musicians deliberately using two classic Erard grand pianos from around 1870.

The 12-based Krystal tuning

An intermezzo by its creators Jacques Groenen and Michael Strategier

The new Krystal tuning gives access to a totally new musical universe. It no longer has Pythagoras’ Comma as a base – being the ratio between twelve fifths with a 3:2 frequency, and seven octaves with a frequency ratio of 1:2.

Richard Buckminster "Bucky" Fuller was an American architect, systems theorist, author, designer, and inventor. Fuller published more than 30 books, coining or popularizing terms such as "Spaceship Earth", ephemeralization, and synergetic. He also developed numerous inventions, mainly architectural designs, and popularized the widely known geodesic dome. Carbon molecules known as fullerenes were later named by scientists for their structural and mathematical resemblance to geodesic spheres. source.

In India music is used to reflect and convert human moods and emotions into sounds, and vice versa. Different tunings are used to affect feelings and emotions. All these tunings differ from one hour to the next and are a consequence of the Pythagorean Comma.

In Western music one has tried to resolve the issue by distributing the comma across all notes of an octave. This is no true solution, as all notes – except the octave itself – are out of tune. But through long term conditioning our hearing is no longer receptive to this. For those who remain open to subtle listening, Western music is a disorder to the ears.

Hence, music without this comma induces a new era.

Technically, the new tuning has 24 tones that together forms a 'krystal spiral' of soundwaves. When listening to music in this new tuning, people experience deep relaxation. Brainwaves are addressed in synchronicity, giving rise to calm inner experiences, less depending on the sphere of the composition and its performance.

How is it possible that the Pythagorean Comma has never been solved? The answer is truly simple. If a problem cannot be solved within any existing framework, one has to find new pathways out of the existing paradigm."

Let's meet the basis behind the Krystal

The krystal in a krystal in a krystal ... and its 12 - 24 - 48 - 96 ... creation spiral

The basis is an out-of-the-box mathematical approach to reality, pointing to the quote by William Blake: "If the doors of perception were cleansed every thing would appear to man as it is, Infinite. For man has closed himself up, till he sees all things thro' narrow chinks of his cavern." Come to know how the contours of 'Plato's cave' become visible and learn more about our uni-verse and the healing or realisation of oneself.

The Krystal creation spiral, on which the tuning is based, shows us a promising destiny - read here step 3. To access this page, please e-mail us at: info@soundsofsilence.eu.

“Everything is energy and that's all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you cannot help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.”  – Bashar.  Read more...
