Sounds of Silence

A European Harmonising Project

"We know what we are, but know not what we may be." - William Shakespeare

What can silence tell us about ourselves? Has the sound frequency of music anything to do with the reality we face? What does it take to become fully harmonized with the citizens of our continents? The new harmonic pianotuning presented by Sounds of Silence, is based on the recently created 12-based 'Krystal' tuning. Experience the amazing sounds brought to you by professional musicians deliberately using two classic Erard grand pianos from around 1870.

Welcome to Sounds of Silence

Introduction

What can sound, a vibratory exchange, do for you? And is reality coming from an empty field we call silence? Let's zoom out first before we tune in, by a quote from Niels Bohr.

Everything we call real is made of things that cannot be regarded as real. If quantum mechanics hasn’t profoundly shocked you, you haven’t understood it yet.
— Niels Bohr (1885 - 1962)

Since the beginning of the 20th century science discovered a paradigm many rather wanted to keep in closed circles or even deny to continue the safe convictions and convenience: to see the world as a box of mechanics. The implications of this new paradigm were unprecedented. In the many years to come it could only slowly be adopted in our society.

What was the baseline message? The world of matter is actually manifested energy, up to the microscopic particle. We've learned that this realisation in science proves the unbreakable relationship between the eye and that what is reflected.

It was not possible to formulate the laws of quantum mechanics in a fully consistent way without reference to consciousness.
— Eugene Wigner, theoretical physicist and mathematician. He received a share of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1963

It was the undeniable pointer to the unseen, unmanifested, unknown realm, where even scientists have to admit their awe. They found a trace where religion could only pray for. No belief or knowledge can explain the mystery called 'consciousness'. By some refered to as the immaterial absolute compared with the relative world of the manifest.

Quantum Mechanics

The quantum double slit experiment is a very popular experiment used to examine how consciousness and our physical material world are intertwined. It is a great example that documents how factors associated with consciousness and our physical material world are connected in some way. One potential revelation of this experience is that "the observer creates the reality". Observation not only disturbs what has to be measured, they produce it. We compel the electron to assume a definite position. We ourselves produce the results of the measurement. (source)

Life. A musical dance of which mankind is the breath, the (un)conscious bridge to awareness, the beholder of the ever present consciousness. A living paradox, where 'two worlds' can be intertwined as one?

Time to tune in. Let's crystalise these thoughts and ask ourselves: Could a newly created musical temperament based on this premise be used as mediator between the calm and ever present breathe in ... silence ... breathe out?

The Krystal Tuning

What we know is that music can bring us in spheres and moods, mainly due to the composition. At the time of this writing (Oct 2015) there is still not enough evidence if the new Krystal tuning has effects on the body-mind in a way that bring 'two worlds' closer to a vibrational essence. Although the theory and the first experiences are truly promising.

To become involved in this new tuning, you are invited to make three steps. These are:

  1. Read a short summary about the current musical temperament.
  2. Investigate our web of relativity in the numeric realm of the 9-based tuning.
  3. With this knowledge in mind, meet the Krystal Spiral basis of the new 12-based Krystal tuning.

"Be the change..." Mahatma Gandhi said. May we be the ones who realise what we are - to be, or not to be - what makes the world "we wish to see."

Thank you for your attention.
